What is an Average Calculator?

An Average Calculator reads the numbers you enter and computes five statistics at once — average, sum, count, minimum and maximum. Numbers can be separated by commas, spaces or new lines, and both comma and dot decimals are accepted.

A quick example

For the numbers 10, 20 and 30, the average is 20, the sum is 60, the count is 3, the minimum is 10 and the maximum is 30. As another example, the average of 4.5 and 5.5 is 5. Results appear as soon as you press Calculate.

Where is it used?

Mean works — until it misleads

The arithmetic mean handles tidy, evenly spread numbers well. When one huge outlier drags results (a single mansion in a street of flats), the average describes nobody. Spot these cases before trusting the number.

• Median: the middle value, safer with outliers.
• Mode: the most frequent value, useful for categories.
