What is Morse code?

Morse code encodes letters, digits and punctuation as sequences of dots and dashes. It was originally used for telegraph communication, where each character is a timed signal of short and long pulses.

How does this translator work?

  • Text to Morse: letters become dot-dash sequences separated by spaces; words are separated by a slash (/).
  • Morse to text: each symbol is read back to its letter; a slash marks a word boundary.
  • Supported characters are A–Z, 0–9 and the punctuation . , ? ! & ( ) and -.

FAQ

  • Can Turkish letters be translated? No — Turkish characters such as ç and ş are not part of standard Morse and are left as-is.
  • Why are words separated by /? It is the widely used convention for representing a space between words in Morse text.
  • Is my message sent to a server? No, all translation happens locally in your browser.
